If anyone is interested, these series of posts will consist of a series of reflections based on a fairly long life (79+) years. It is my intent to add to this blog as I remember my past and my hopes for the future of this nation. The hopes for the future are based on my concern for my (our) children and grandchildren. I the case of grandchildren I also refer to the generations to follow; grand, great-grand, great-great, etc.

I have faith in the prophesies contained in scripture including The Bible, The Book of Mormon, latter day revelations as contained in the LDS Doctrine and Covenants, and The Pearl of Great Price, the current canon of scripture. I also have faith in the teachings of the living prophets, those known as the First Presidency, the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. (There will come a time when the world will be governed in righteousness and glory by the Lord Jesus Christ.)

We live in time that seems to have serious social problems and with even more serious moral conditions. At present we are being led by a president who gives every indication that he is afflicted with Narcissism. I know this is a serious and controversial statement, but all the signs are there based on what I have been able to learn. One of the signs of this affliction is the intense need for adulation by those who are in close relationships with him. In a speech given by Michelle Obama at UCLA, the "worship" is strongly evidenced. (I will provide a link to that speech later.)

As a child during the GREAT depression I understood that we (my family) were dirt poor. Somehow my very wonderful parents found a way to bring six sons into the world and to keep us reasonably healthy. They worked so hard; I find it amusing but also appalling when I hear complaints about the terrible economic conditions we face in 2010. I do not minmize the realities of today's world; we do have serious problems. However, we have benn blessed by the Lord such that we can alleviate many of these problems but do so without losing our freedoms. (More about this later.)
